WALDORF — A 28-year-old Waldorf man faces murder and related charges after his 4-month-old daughter died from multiple traumatic injuries Saturday evening, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Jordan Nathaniel Savoy was arrested following the death of the infant, who was found unresponsive shortly before 7 p.m. on November 23 in the 300 block of Barksdale Avenue. Charles County patrol officers and emergency medical personnel responded at 6:45 p.m. to a report of a baby not breathing. First responders immediately began life-saving measures and transported the child to University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

An initial medical examination revealed the infant had suffered multiple fractures and other critical injuries consistent with physical abuse, according to sheriff’s office statements. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division launched a homicide investigation that same night.

Investigators determined the infant’s father, Jordan Nathaniel Savoy of Waldorf, was responsible for the injuries. Savoy was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, first-degree child abuse resulting in death, and related offenses.

As of November 24, Savoy remains held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center in La Plata awaiting an initial appearance and bond review. The case is being investigated by Detective Burgess of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

Autopsy results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore are pending to determine the exact cause and manner of death. Those findings will be critical in the ongoing prosecution.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Burgess at 301-609-6452. Tipsters who wish to remain anonymous may call Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS or submit tips online at www.charlescountycrimesolvers.com.

The case remains under active investigation.
