LEONARDTOWN — St. Mary’s County Government announced December 1, 2025, the rollout of a new user-friendly online registration platform serving both the Department of Recreation & Parks and the Department of Aging & Human Services.
The county partnered with CivicPlus, a company specializing in municipal registration software, to replace the previous system. Officials describe the upgrade as faster, mobile-friendly and capable of handling program sign-ups, memberships, league registrations, facility bookings and secure payments in one place.
Residents may begin creating household accounts immediately. Full program registration through the new portal opens Thursday, December 18, 2025.
One CivicPlus account works for activities offered by either department, eliminating the need for multiple logins. Users can access the system through two separate catalogs:
- Recreation & Parks: https://secure.rec1.com/MD/st-marys-county-md/catalog
- Aging & Human Services: https://secure.rec1.com/MD/st-marys-county-md-aging/catalog
To set up an account, visitors click “Log In/Create Account” and enter basic household information. Once activated, the account allows users to browse upcoming offerings, register for classes or events, reserve facilities such as athletic fields or picnic pavilions, track registration history and receive automatic program reminders.
County staff members emphasized the change aims to simplify participation for the more than 115,000 residents who use Recreation & Parks facilities and the thousands of older adults who take part in senior-center trips, fitness classes and meals programs each year.
To ease the transition, both departments scheduled hands-on assistance.
The Department of Aging & Human Services will hold three in-person account-creation sessions at county senior activity centers:
- Northern Senior Activity Center (29655 Charlotte Hall Road, Charlotte Hall) – Monday, December 1, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Loffler Senior Activity Center (21905 Chancellors Run Road, Great Mills) – Tuesday, December 2, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- Garvey Senior Activity Center (23630 Hayden Farm Lane, Leonardtown) – Wednesday, December 3, 10 a.m. to noon
Recreation & Parks will host a virtual information session via Zoom on Tuesday, December 9 at noon. Residents can obtain the meeting link by subscribing to the department’s e-news alerts at https://tinyurl.com/26mmvsab.
After December 18, the old registration websites will redirect to the new CivicPlus platform, and paper forms will still be accepted at department offices and senior centers for those who prefer not to register online.
The upgrade comes as St. Mary’s County continues expanding recreational offerings, including new pickleball courts, expanded summer camps and increased senior transportation services.
