ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s basketball delivered another stifling defensive effort Saturday, limiting Cedar Crest College to 34 points in a 55–34 victory at the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena. The Seahawks improved to 4–2 overall and remained perfect in United East Conference play at 2–0.
St. Mary’s set the tone immediately, holding the Falcons to two points in the first quarter while racing to a 14–2 lead. The Seahawks carried that momentum into halftime with a 27–8 advantage, forcing 18 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes alone.

Keira Mason recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, converting 7 of 10 free throws in 23 minutes. Reserve guard Saffiyah Gibson added 12 points, four assists, and two steals in 22 minutes off the bench. Olivia Liszt contributed 11 points and nine rebounds, and Samantha Blaylock knocked down three triples en route to 11 points in just 15 minutes.
The Seahawks’ bench outscored Cedar Crest’s reserves 43–11, highlighting the program’s depth.
Defensively, St. Mary’s forced 30 turnovers and turned them into 20 points while winning the rebounding battle 67–44. The Seahawks held Cedar Crest to 21.8 percent shooting from the field and 7.7 percent from three-point range.
Cedar Crest managed only eight field goals in the first half and finished the game 12-of-55 from the floor.
The victory marked the third time this season St. Mary’s has held an opponent under 40 points.
St. Mary’s steps out of conference play Tuesday when the Seahawks travel to Swarthmore College for a 5 p.m. tip-off December 9. The Garnet enter the matchup 5–2 overall after Saturday’s 66–59 win over McDaniel.
The Seahawks return home December 18 to host Penn College in their final game before the holiday break.
