MECHANICSVILLE — A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Drayden remains in critical condition after a serious collision with a car on Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville on December 13, 2025.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 4:48 p.m., a 2019 white Chevrolet Impala driven by Orrin Stacy, 35, of Mechanicsville, was traveling eastbound on Cedar Grove Street. The Impala attempted a left turn onto southbound Three Notch Road but failed to yield the right of way, entering the path of a 2002 Yamaha YZF600R motorcycle operated by Darius Jackson-Jordan.

The motorcycle struck the Impala, resulting in life-threatening injuries to Jackson-Jordan. He was airlifted by Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 7 to a regional trauma center, where he continues to be listed in critical condition as of December 15, 2025.

Preliminary findings indicate that speed was not a contributing factor. No injuries were reported for Stacy.

Due to the crash’s severity, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

In Maryland, failure to yield the right of way at intersections is governed by Transportation Article Section 21-403, requiring drivers to stop or yield to traffic on through highways. Violations can result in fines, points on a driving record, and potential civil liability if an accident occurs. When severe injuries result, charges may escalate depending on investigation outcomes.

Authorities closed portions of southbound Three Notch Road for several hours following the crash to allow for emergency response and initial investigation. A landing zone for Trooper 7 was established nearby, likely at the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to seek witnesses. Anyone who saw the collision or events leading up to it and has not spoken with investigators is urged to contact Corporal Rachael Owens at 301-475-4200, extension 8108, or via email at rachael.owens@stmaryscountymd.gov.

This incident underscores ongoing traffic safety concerns along Three Notch Road, where multiple serious collisions have been reported in 2025, including fatal crashes at other intersections involving similar turning maneuvers. The Collision Reconstruction Unit’s role ensures thorough probes, often incorporating advanced techniques to reconstruct events for potential court proceedings or safety improvements.

No charges have been announced as the investigation proceeds.
