The Powerball jackpot reached an estimated $1.1 billion for the Monday, December 15, 2025, drawing, with a cash option of $503.4 million before taxes. No ticket matched all six numbers in the Saturday, December 13, drawing—white balls 1, 28, 31, 57, 58, and red Powerball 16—causing the prize to roll over. The Power Play multiplier was 2X.

This marks the 43rd drawing in the current jackpot run, setting a record for the most consecutive drawings without a winner in a single cycle. The jackpot ranks as the sixth largest in Powerball history. Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO, noted the streak encourages shared dreaming during the holiday season while urging responsible play.

Although no jackpot winner emerged, seven tickets nationwide won $1 million or more. Five tickets, sold in California, Florida, Michigan, New Jersey, and Virginia, matched all five white balls for $1 million each. Two tickets in North Carolina and Pennsylvania, with the Power Play option, doubled to $2 million each. The drawing produced 49 tickets worth $50,000 and 12 worth $100,000. In California, prizes are pari-mutuel based on sales and winners.

In the separate Double Play drawing, two tickets in Colorado and North Carolina won $500,000 each by matching all five black balls. Double Play, a $1 add-on, enters Powerball numbers into another draw for prizes up to $10 million.

Powerball tickets cost $2 per play, with optional $1 add-ons for Power Play or Double Play. Drawings occur Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time from Tallahassee, Florida, and stream live on Powerball.com. Overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.9, while jackpot odds stand at 1 in 292.2 million.

In Maryland, players can purchase tickets at thousands of retailers, including convenience stores, gas stations, and supermarkets across Southern Maryland counties like Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s. Popular spots line routes such as Route 5 and Route 235, where locals often stop. Use the Maryland Lottery retailer locator for nearby options.

More than half of proceeds from each ticket sold stay in the state where purchased. Maryland directs lottery funds to the general fund, supporting education, public health, safety, and environmental programs. In fiscal year 2025, Maryland Lottery profits totaled $667.2 million, contributing to statewide initiatives including those in Southern Maryland communities.

The last Powerball jackpot hit on September 6, 2025, when tickets in Missouri and Texas split $1.787 billion. Winners choosing the annuity receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments increasing 5 percent yearly. Most opt for the lump sum.
