To qualify, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, hold sophomore standing or higher, and meet specific on-field participation criteria, such as starting or playing significantly. Nominations come from institutional sports information directors.

Bonner and Petryszak advanced as finalists to the national Academic All-America ballot. College Sports Communicators members will vote, with first-, second-, and third-team honorees announced December 17, 2025.

The Seahawks posted a 13-6-3 overall record in 2025, going undefeated at 8-0-0 in United East Conference play to claim the regular-season title—the program’s first perfect conference mark. The team recorded 10 shutouts, highlighting a strong defensive effort. The season ended in the conference tournament championship, where St. Mary’s fell 2-0 in penalty kicks after a double-overtime draw against Penn State Harrisburg.

Individual Performances and Academics

Bonner, a three-year team captain and English-psychology double major with a 3.95 GPA, stands 5-9 as a defender. She earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region IV Third Team and First Team All-United East recognition. Bonner contributed one goal and a team-high 10 assists while anchoring the defense.

Clark, a physics major and mathematics minor with a 3.96 GPA, measures 5-8 as a defender. She helped secure 10 shutouts and scored two goals, landing Second Team All-United East honors. Clark also received the United East Elite 21 Award for the highest GPA among student-athletes from the conference tournament’s final four teams.

Fishburne, a psychology major and neuroscience minor with a 3.93 GPA, plays 5-2 as a two-way midfielder. She earned Second Team All-United East after adding two goals and three assists to the shutout efforts.

O’Neail, a political science and sociology double major with a 3.96 GPA, serves as a team captain at 5-4 in midfield. She tallied six goals—including two game-winners—and three assists, securing First Team All-United East.

Petryszak, a business major and sociology minor with a 3.66 GPA, stands 5-3 as a defender. Named United East Defensive Player of the Year, she earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region IV Second Team and First Team All-United East. Petryszak scored five goals and added one assist while contributing to 10 shutouts.

Rusk, a history major and educational studies minor with a 3.76 GPA, measures 5-1 in midfield. She led the team with seven goals and added one assist for 15 points, earning First Team All-United East for the second straight season.

The Academic All-District honor underscores the program’s emphasis on balancing athletic and academic demands. All six recipients exceeded the minimum 3.50 GPA threshold, with four posting 3.93 or higher. This recognition aligns with broader CSC efforts to highlight student-athletes across divisions who excel in both areas.

The Seahawks’ season included notable nonconference tests and a strong home performance, drawing support from the Southern Maryland community. As finalists await the December 17 announcement, Bonner and Petryszak represent opportunities for further national acclaim.
