Three members of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s soccer team—senior Jack Nelson, junior Tyler Foti, and sophomore William Marbray—earned selection to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team for NCAA Division III, as announced November 25.
The honorees represent achievement in both athletics and academics at the liberal arts college in St. Mary’s City. Nelson and Foti received repeat selections, while Marbray earned his first recognition. Nelson, from Ellicott City and a River Hill High School graduate, advances as a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America team. National voting by CSC members will determine first-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees, with results announced December 16.

To qualify for Academic All-District recognition, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and meet specific on-field participation criteria, such as starting a majority of games or contributing significantly as reserves. Nominations come from institutional sports information directors.
Nelson, a double major in economics and business administration with a 3.71 GPA, stands 5 feet 9 inches as a defender. He claimed the United East Conference Defensive Player of the Year award for the second consecutive season and earned First Team All-United East honors again. His contributions included five goals and three assists, supporting the team’s seven shutouts. These efforts also secured him United Soccer Coaches All-Region IV First Team recognition.
Foti, a business administration major from Annandale, Virginia, and an Annandale High School alumnus, holds a 3.64 GPA. The 6-foot-2 midfielder garnered Third Team All-United East honors, his second career all-conference selection. He added two goals and two assists while contributing to seven shutout wins.
Marbray, also pursuing business administration with an economics minor, posted a 3.93 GPA. Hailing from Ellicott City and a Marriotts Ridge High School graduate, the 5-foot-10 forward tallied four goals and two assists across 19 games.
The Seahawks concluded the 2025 season with a 13-6-1 overall record and an undefeated 8-0-0 mark in United East Conference play, capturing the regular-season championship for the second straight year. The team advanced to the conference tournament semifinals before falling to Penn College.
The CSC Academic All-District and All-America programs highlight student-athletes across divisions who excel in competition and coursework. For Division III, selections emphasize the balance required at institutions without athletic scholarships.
