Four members of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s volleyball team earned selection to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced December 16. Senior Julia Bobrowski from California, Maryland, juniors Camilla Galeano from Germantown, Maryland, and Lauren Panageotou from Baltimore, Maryland, and sophomore Stella Marrero from Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, received the recognition for their performances during the 2025 season.
Bobrowski secured the honor for the second consecutive year. The program requires nominees to maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average and meet athletic participation thresholds, such as playing in 90 percent of sets or starting in at least 66 percent of matches.

Bobrowski, a sociology major with a business administration minor and 3.74 GPA, ranked sixth in the United East Conference with 55 service aces and 14th with 0.52 aces per set as a 5-foot-6 outside hitter. She also earned a spot on the United East All-Sportsmanship Team November 24.
Galeano, a computer science major with a 3.87 GPA, tied for 14th in the conference with 42 service aces and 17th with 0.49 aces per set. The 5-foot-4 setter paced the Seahawks with 402 assists, reaching 20 or more assists in five matches.
Panageotou, a psychology major and educational studies minor with a 3.7 GPA, contributed 291 assists to rank second on the team. The 5-foot-10 setter added 101 digs, 12 service aces, and six kills across 30 matches.
Marrero earned her first selection with a 3.96 GPA in neuroscience and psychology, plus a biology minor. The 5-foot-7 defensive specialist placed 10th in the United East with 303 digs and 20th with 2.78 digs per set, while ranking second on the team with 45 service aces.
The Seahawks finished the season 17-15 overall and 8-2 in conference play, capturing the program’s first United East tournament championship with a 3-2 victory over top-seeded Penn State Harrisburg on the road. That win secured the team’s inaugural berth in the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
In the NCAA opening round November 20 in Pittsburgh, St. Mary’s fell 3-0 to Wisconsin-Eau Claire by set scores of 25-13, 25-23, and 25-13, concluding a historic campaign.
This year’s four selections mark continued recognition for the program, following three honorees in 2023. The awards underscore the Seahawks’ commitment to academic standards amid competitive play.
The United East tournament format features single-elimination among top seeds, with the champion earning an automatic NCAA bid. St. Mary’s path included sweeps in earlier rounds before the five-set final against Penn State Harrisburg.
In NCAA play, teams advance through regionals to the championship rounds. The Seahawks’ appearance represented a milestone, as the program transitioned from the former Capital Athletic Conference to the United East in recent years.
