The Budweiser Clydesdales appeared in two Southern Maryland holiday events this season, facilitated by Bob Hall Beverage Company, with a first-time visit to the Calvert County Christmas Parade in Prince Frederick and a return to North Beach.

Bob Hall Beverage Company, a family-owned distributor based in Upper Marlboro serving Calvert, Charles, and Prince George’s counties for 92 years, arranged the appearances. The Clydesdales participated in the Calvert County parade on December 13 and paraded through North Beach on December 16, drawing large crowds for photo opportunities and festivities.

Dan Hoose, general manager of Bob Hall Beverage Company, highlighted the company’s community ties. “For more than 90 years, our communities have supported Bob Hall Beverage Company, and we never take that for granted,” he said. “Bringing the Budweiser Clydesdales to the Calvert County Christmas Parade for the first time and back to North Beach allowed us to celebrate with our neighbors, thank our communities and honor the military and first responder families who sacrifice so much for our safety.”

Calvert County Commissioner President Todd Ireland noted the addition’s impact. “Welcoming the majestic Budweiser Clydesdales to our parade was a highlight for our community,” he said. “Their presence added a new level of excitement to the beloved local tradition, and we’re grateful to Bob Hall Beverage Company for helping make this moment possible.”

In North Beach, Mayor Mike Benton, a Marine Corps veteran, emphasized the event’s dual focus. “The enthusiasm overflows when the Budweiser Clydesdales trot into North Beach,” he said. “Their appearance brings incredible holiday spirit, and it’s extra meaningful to pair this celebration with support for Folds of Honor. As a Marine Corps veteran, honoring the families of those who have served and sacrificed hits close to home for many in our community and we’re proud to shine a spotlight on their important work. We’re grateful to Bob Hall Beverage Company for helping create a moment that brought joy, connection and lasting memories to our town.”

During the North Beach event, Bob Hall Beverage Company recognized local Folds of Honor scholarship recipient Jaiden Chambers, whose father is retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Ernest Berlin Chambers Jr. The company donated $20,000 to Folds of Honor this year, its fifth consecutive contribution. Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to spouses and children of fallen or disabled military members and first responders.

The Calvert County Christmas Parade, known as the Main Street Christmas Parade, runs along routes in downtown Prince Frederick, including Main Street and adjacent areas. Organized by county Parks & Recreation, it features community groups, bands, and vehicles, with entries judged in categories like best float and marching unit. The 2025 event aligned with broader Main Street Christmas activities, including a tree lighting earlier in December.

North Beach’s event included the Clydesdales staging on 3rd Street, parading through town with stops at the waterfront pavilion for photos, and traditional beer deliveries to local establishments.

Bob Hall Beverage Company, founded in 1933 coinciding with Prohibition’s repeal, distributes Anheuser-Busch products and others across its service area. The firm supports local initiatives, including prior Clydesdale appearances tied to awards and partnerships.

The Budweiser Clydesdales originated in 1933 when August A. Busch Jr. and Adolphus Busch III presented a six-horse hitch to their father to mark Prohibition’s end. Today, three traveling hitches—each with 10 horses, a red wagon, drivers, and a Dalmatian—appear nationwide. Requirements include bay coloring, white markings, and gelding status, with horses weighing around 2,000 pounds and standing tall for visibility.

These Southern Maryland visits continue traditions of community parades in Calvert and Charles counties, where waterfront towns like North Beach and county seats like Prince Frederick host annual holiday gatherings drawing residents from across the region.
