The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $1.70 billion for the drawing scheduled on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, Christmas Eve, following no jackpot winner in the Monday, December 22 drawing. The cash value stands at $781.3 million before taxes. This prize ranks as the fourth-largest in Powerball history and among all U.S. lottery games.
No ticket matched the winning numbers from Monday: white balls 3, 18, 36, 41, 54 and red Powerball 7, with a Power Play multiplier of 2. The drawing marked the 47th in the current jackpot cycle, setting a record for the longest run without a top-prize winner. The jackpot last hit on September 6, 2025, when two tickets in Missouri and Texas split $1.787 billion.

Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO, stated, “Much like the holidays, Powerball is a game that brings people together to dream big and hope for a brighter future. We hope this growing jackpot inspires excitement and joy, and, most importantly, good will to all. A portion of every ticket helps support programs and services that benefit local communities.”
Powerball has been won once on Christmas Eve, in 2011, and four times on Christmas Day in 1996, 2002, 2010 and 2013. The Wednesday drawing will air live at 10:59 p.m. ET from the Florida Lottery studio in Tallahassee, with streaming available on Powerball.com.
Tickets cost $2 per play, with optional add-ons like Power Play for $1 more or Double Play for another $1. Double Play, available in Maryland among other jurisdictions, provides a second drawing using the same numbers for prizes up to $10 million. In Monday’s Double Play, one Maryland ticket sold in Upper Marlboro won $500,000 by matching all five white balls in that feature.
Nationwide, Monday produced nine $1 million Match 5 prizes in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York (two), Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Additional wins included 107 tickets at $50,000 and 28 at $100,000, with California prizes determined pari-mutuel.
In Maryland, players have seen success during this roll. Since September 6, 2025, Maryland Lottery participants have claimed over $10 million in Powerball prizes, including two $1 million wins and multiple $50,000 prizes. A recent example includes a $500,000 Double Play prize from Upper Marlboro. Maryland’s history with Powerball includes notable jackpots, such as a $731.1 million win in January 2021 claimed anonymously by “The Power Pack” in Lonaconing, and earlier wins like $108.8 million in 2011 in Abingdon.
Proceeds from Powerball sales support Maryland programs. More than half of ticket sales remain in the jurisdiction where sold, contributing to state beneficiaries. In Fiscal Year 2025, the Maryland Lottery and related operations delivered $667.2 million in profits to the state, part of $1.589 billion total from lottery, casinos and sports wagering. These funds aid education, public services and community initiatives.
The overall odds of winning any prize stand at 1 in 24.9, while jackpot odds are 1 in 292.2 million. Winners choosing the annuity receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual increases of 5 percent each, before taxes. The lump sum option provides the cash value upfront.
Southern Maryland residents can purchase tickets at local retailers until cutoff times, typically one to two hours before the drawing. The Maryland Lottery encourages responsible play and notes that prizes over $25,000 require redemption at the Baltimore Customer Resource Center by appointment, with smaller prizes claimable at casinos or authorized locations. All prizes must be claimed within 182 days.
This historic jackpot arrives amid holiday festivities, offering players in St. Mary’s, Calvert, Charles and surrounding counties a chance at a life-changing prize while contributing to state-supported causes.
