LEONARDTOWN, MD — St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputies resolved a hours-long barricade situation in the 45000 block of Hickory Hills Circle in California on December 23, 2025, taking a male subject into custody without incident after he threatened self-harm during a verbal dispute.

Deputies responded to the residence late Monday evening, around 10:30 p.m. on December 22, following reports of an alleged verbal dispute that escalated. The male subject threatened to harm himself and a victim. The victim, who was unharmed, fled the residence before officers arrived. Upon arrival, the subject barricaded himself inside, leading to a standoff that lasted several hours.

A search warrant was obtained and served as negotiations continued. The subject was taken into custody peacefully early Tuesday morning and transported to a medical facility for evaluation. No injuries were reported to the victim, deputies, or the subject during the resolution.
