ANNAPOLIS, MD — Governor Wes Moore announced on January 6, 2026, the full relaunch of Maryland.gov, the state’s official website, redesigned as a user-friendly digital front door to improve resident access to benefits, government services, and resources.
The Maryland Department of Information Technology’s Maryland Digital Service led the project, following Governor Moore’s executive action to modernize state digital platforms. The effort incorporated input from Maryland residents and dozens of state agencies, focusing on frequently used resources such as job support, food and nutrition benefits, and unemployment insurance.
The redesign features a modern, secure content management system emphasizing accessibility, readability, security, and consistency. More than 1 million Marylanders with disabilities, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, stand to benefit from enhanced assistive technology support.
Key improvements include consistent user experience across agency sites through user-centered design, built-in accessibility features, and plain language content to reduce jargon and improve understanding.
Navigation organizes content into five categories: Benefits, Services, Business and Work, Visit and Explore, and Your Government. The Benefits section groups resources by topic and audience, including families, children, and veterans. Services cover daily needs like driver’s license renewal and tax filing. Business and Work provides paths to permits, licenses, job support, and vendor opportunities. Visit and Explore aids relocation and tourism, while Your Government links to offices, agencies, and election information.
Maryland Department of Information Technology Secretary Katie Savage stated, “The new Maryland.gov is more than a visual redesign. It’s a reflection of how we are rebuilding State websites to make them more accessible for the people we serve. You shouldn’t need a degree in state government to know everything Maryland can do for you—if you live or work here, Maryland.gov is the perfect place to learn more about everything our great state has to offer.”
Maryland Human Services Secretary Rafael López added, “We were intentional about directing Marylanders to the most direct resources to get the help they deserve quickly. This new site reflects an administration that prioritizes world-class customer service and putting people first.”
Maryland Department of Transportation Assistant Secretary for Planning and Project Development Joe McAndrew noted, “Transportation impacts nearly every part of our daily life, and Marylanders deserve simple, reliable access to the services they depend on. The redesigned site organizes state services by topic, helping connect people to MDOT and other essential state services easily and effortlessly.”
Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Harry Coker, Jr. said, “The new Maryland.gov platform will help residents grow their careers, assist entrepreneurs with starting a business, and encourage individuals to explore the outdoors across our beautiful state. This improved and easy-to-navigate website is another step to ensuring that everyone, no matter what age or background, has equal opportunity to Maryland’s resources.”
The launch builds on Moore-Miller Administration initiatives, including the One Application for Benefits at MarylandBenefits.gov, which saw more than 220,000 applications since July 2025 for programs like Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, WIC, and energy assistance.
Additional efforts encompass over $2.6 million in AI grants for agencies to streamline processes like work verification for benefits and document processing, and a modernized Code of Maryland Regulations platform for enhanced search and transparency.
The Maryland Digital Service continues partnering with agencies to modernize additional sites, with dozens slated for launch later in 2026.
Residents can explore the updated platform at Maryland.gov.
Governor Moore stated, “In Maryland, we leave no one behind. This includes how we serve and connect with our people online. This new website is proof that state government can be fast, efficient, and collaborative, replacing bureaucratic mazes with a simple, accessible path to the resources Marylanders need.”
This statewide digital modernization supports all Marylanders, including those in Southern Maryland counties, by simplifying access to essential state resources without specific regional distinctions noted in the announcement.
