ACCOKEEK, Md. — Prince George’s County Police are investigating a fatal three-vehicle collision on Indian Head Highway that claimed the life of a 75-year-old passenger from Indian Head, Charles County.
Linda Howell died of her injuries on Dec. 26, 2025, one day after the crash. Officers responded around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 25, 2025, to the 14000 block of Indian Head Highway in Accokeek for reports of a multi-vehicle wreck in the northbound lanes.
The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit determined the incident involved three vehicles. Howell was a passenger in one of them. Two drivers and other passengers sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Two people required extrication from vehicles before transport to hospitals, according to initial emergency response details.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation, with no additional details released on factors such as speed, impairment or road conditions.
Accokeek, located in southern Prince George’s County near the Charles County line, sees frequent traffic on Indian Head Highway, also known as Maryland Route 210. The roadway connects communities in Southern Maryland, including Waldorf and La Plata in Charles County, to points north toward the District of Columbia. Indian Head Highway has a history of serious crashes in the Accokeek area, though this incident stands apart in its timing on Christmas night.
