The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s basketball team suffered a 98-70 defeat to Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Horst Athletic Center. The loss dropped the Seahawks to 6-9 overall and 2-3 in United East Conference play, while the host Chargers improved to 13-4 overall and 5-0 in the conference, maintaining their hold on second place in the standings.
St. Mary’s committed a season-high 30 turnovers, which Lancaster Bible converted into 40 points. The Chargers dominated inside scoring with a 60-34 advantage in points in the paint. Despite the setback, the Seahawks posted a season-best .565 field goal percentage and held a slight 29-27 edge in rebounding.

The first half saw competitive play with five lead changes and two ties. Lancaster Bible opened with a 9-0 run before first-year guard Korey Blair scored eight of St. Mary’s first 11 points to narrow the gap to 12-11. Blair later connected on a dunk to give the Seahawks their first lead at 25-24 with 6:35 remaining in the half. The Chargers regained control and led 36-31 with 2:53 left, but Blair sparked a 9-2 run that sent St. Mary’s into halftime ahead 40-38. The Seahawks shot .667 from the field in the opening period, their best half of the season.
St. Mary’s extended the lead early in the second half when senior captain JD Salo scored to make it 42-38, the team’s largest advantage. Lancaster Bible responded with a 12-0 run to take the lead for good and built a 50-42 edge with 16:59 remaining. The Chargers pulled away from there, outscoring the Seahawks in the final stretch.
Blair led St. Mary’s with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including two three-pointers, and added four rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 28 minutes. First-year forward Evan Quintero scored 12 points on 4-of-4 shooting with one three-pointer and three free throws, plus two steals in 19 minutes. Sophomore James Crimaudo contributed 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting with one three-pointer, a team-high five rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 26 minutes. Salo added eight points in 18 minutes.
Camden Hurst paced Lancaster Bible with 22 points, five assists, and four steals as the Chargers won their fourth consecutive game.
St. Mary’s will return to action Tuesday, January 21, hosting Rosemont College (2-12, 1-5 United East) at 5 p.m. in the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics & Recreation Center in St. Mary’s City. The Seahawks then travel to Penn College (3-14, 2-4 United East) on Saturday, January 24, for a 1 p.m. tip-off in Williamsport, Pa.
