A St. Mary’s County woman claimed a $100,000 top prize from a FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier ticket on Jan. 20 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore after purchasing it five days earlier.

The winner, a Southern Maryland resident who works in retail, initially believed her ticket was worth at least $2,000. She sought confirmation from a store clerk, who reacted with visible surprise upon scanning it. “When they looked at my ticket, their eyes got wider and wider,” she recalled during the prize claim.

The ticket featured two $1,000 winning spots aligned with a 50X multiplier symbol, boosting each to $50,000 and resulting in the $100,000 total. The ticket was sold Jan. 15 at the Food Lion located at 30290 Mount Wolf Road in Charlotte Hall, Charles County. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The woman, a regular lottery player, expressed a preference for FAST PLAY tickets. “The scratch-offs don’t last long in stores. That is why I like to buy FAST PLAYS,” she said. She plans to allocate the prize money to her children and grandchildren.

The $10 FAST PLAY Mega Multiplier game launched April 3, 2023, offering 30 top prizes of $100,000 each. This win marks the eighth top prize claimed, leaving 22 remaining at that level. Additional unclaimed prizes include 12 at $50,000 and 24 at $20,000, plus tens of thousands of lower-tier prizes from $10 to $10,000.

The game allows instant play and reveals outcomes immediately upon purchase, differing from traditional scratch-offs that require manual scratching to uncover prizes. FAST PLAY tickets remain active for 182 days after purchase.
