St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s basketball team defeated Salisbury University 83-78 in overtime Monday night at the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena in St. Mary’s City.

The Seahawks improved to 13-5 overall with the non-conference victory. The game remained tied 69-69 at the end of regulation before St. Mary’s outscored the visiting Sea Gulls 14-9 in the extra period to secure the win.

Keira Mason paced the Seahawks with 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the field, complemented by nine rebounds and five assists. Tramarie Mobray contributed 16 points, going 6-of-8 from the field including 2-of-3 from three-point range, while adding four rebounds and six assists. Olivia Liszt posted 12 points and seven rebounds. Marley Saunders provided 10 points off the bench, connecting on three three-pointers. Halimah Hajhassan added five points in limited action.

St. Mary’s opened with a 23-19 lead after the first quarter and held a 34-31 advantage at halftime. Salisbury University mounted a rally in the second half to build a multi-possession lead. The Seahawks responded with key baskets and defensive efforts to regain the advantage late in regulation. The Sea Gulls, down by two points, tied the score with seconds remaining to force overtime. St. Mary’s seized control early in the extra frame and maintained it to close out the victory.

The Seahawks shot 52.2 percent from the field overall (35-of-67), including 44.4 percent from three-point range (8-of-18) and 41.7 percent from the free-throw line (5-of-12). They generated 42 points in the paint, 15 fast-break points, 23 points off turnovers, and 20 assists on 32 made field goals. Bench players accounted for 54 points.

Salisbury University fell to 11-7 on the season. Nicole Miller led the Sea Gulls with 26 points, and Abby Plaugher added 23 points. Salisbury was limited to nine points in overtime.

The game featured six ties and four lead changes. St. Mary’s recorded seven second-chance points and committed one technical foul.

This victory continues a strong season for the Seahawks, who have won multiple close contests through balanced scoring and defensive resilience in Southern Maryland collegiate athletics.

St. Mary’s returns to action Saturday, Jan. 24, when the team travels to Penn College for a resumption of conference play.
