Prince Frederick, Maryland – The Calvert County Department of Community Resources has awarded $547,469 through the fiscal year 2026 Community Reinvestment & Repair Fund to support local organizations delivering essential services in youth development, education, behavioral health, homelessness prevention, community safety, workforce development, and reentry programs.

Announced February 2, 2026, the FY26 allocations demonstrate the county’s ongoing dedication to bolstering nonprofit and community-based initiatives that address resident needs across Calvert County. The competitive grants target priorities identified through community input, including education and after-school programs, behavioral health and crisis response, community childcare and recreational services, housing and homelessness prevention, job training and workforce development, transportation improvements in high-density areas, truancy and absenteeism interventions, and services for residents affected by incarceration.

Jennifer Moreland, director of Community Services, highlighted the direct impact of the funding. “These investments directly support programs and services that meet community needs,” she stated. “We are proud to partner with organizations that demonstrate strong capacity, measurable outcomes and a sustained commitment to the well being of Calvert County families.”

Deputy Director Jacquelyn Culver noted the rigorous selection process. “The FY26 awards are the result of careful evaluation, community surveys and data-driven prioritization,” she said. “These organizations play a vital role in expanding services and building stronger pathways for youth, families and vulnerable residents.”

The Community Reinvestment & Repair Fund operates as a county grant program to reinvest resources into community-driven solutions. Applications undergo thorough review based on alignment with established priorities, organizational capacity, proposed outcomes, and sustainability. The process incorporates community feedback gathered through surveys and public engagement to ensure funding addresses documented gaps in services.

Awardees will now enter the finalization phase, where Calvert County staff collaborate with each organization to complete grant agreements, establish budgets, set timelines, and define reporting obligations. Agencies receive individualized notifications detailing payment schedules, required documentation, and compliance expectations to facilitate smooth implementation.

The total $547,469 distribution for FY26 builds on previous cycles, reinforcing Calvert County’s strategy to strengthen local infrastructure through targeted support for nonprofits. Funded programs aim to improve access to education, mental health resources, stable housing, employment opportunities, and reentry assistance, particularly for at-risk youth and justice-involved individuals.
