The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s basketball team extended its perfect record in United East Conference play to 10-0 with a 64-49 victory over Notre Dame (Md.) on Wednesday night at the MBK Athletic Complex in St. Mary’s City.

The Seahawks improved to 17-5 overall with the win, while the visiting Gators dropped to 11-9 overall and 7-3 in conference action. St. Mary’s maintained control from the opening quarter, building an early lead through sharp shooting and defensive intensity that forced turnovers and limited second-chance opportunities for the opposition.

The Seahawks jumped ahead 19-13 after the first period and carried a 31-21 advantage into halftime. They continued to dictate play in the second half, stretching the margin to a game-high 21 points during the fourth quarter before securing the 15-point final tally. Defensive pressure proved decisive, as St. Mary’s converted 32 points off 30 Notre Dame turnovers and limited the Gators to 38.2 percent shooting from the field.

Olivia Liszt and Keira Mason each scored a team-high 13 points to lead the Seahawks. Mason secured a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds, while Liszt connected on all three of her three-point attempts and added seven rebounds in 36 minutes. Tramarie Mobray contributed 12 points off the bench in 20 minutes, helping the St. Mary’s reserves account for 31 of the team’s points. Saffiyah Gibson added seven points in 11 minutes of action.

The Seahawks shot 44.4 percent from the field overall, including 55.6 percent from three-point range, and made 76 percent of their free throws. They outrebounded Notre Dame 31-35 but held a clear edge in transition and turnover creation, with 12 steals compared to the Gators’ 11.

Alia Austin paced Notre Dame with 13 points, and Marecia Barnett finished with nine. The Gators struggled at the free-throw line, converting only 36.4 percent, and committed 30 turnovers that fueled St. Mary’s offense.

The victory reinforces St. Mary’s position atop the United East Conference standings midway through league play. The Seahawks’ balanced scoring, depth, and defensive consistency have defined their conference dominance this season, allowing them to overcome various opponents while preserving their unbeaten mark in league games.

St. Mary’s returns to action Saturday, February 7, when the team travels to face Valley Forge in another United East Conference contest. The road trip offers another opportunity to build momentum as the Seahawks pursue a strong finish in conference competition and position themselves for postseason play.

The MBK Athletic Complex on the St. Mary’s College campus in Southern Maryland served as the site for the midweek matchup, continuing the Seahawks’ strong home performance in league games this season.
