The Maryland Park Service will debut a revamped, modern reservations management system on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, delivering a faster and more user-friendly way for visitors to book campsites, cabins, mini-cabins, pavilions, and additional amenities across all 37 Maryland State Parks.
This upgrade marks a significant technological leap for the state’s outdoor recreation offerings, addressing longstanding frustrations with outdated booking processes. The new platform boasts enhanced performance on desktops and mobile devices, a streamlined interface, simplified checkout, and fresh tools like text message notifications to keep planners informed every step of the way.
“This new reservations system is a significant step forward in how we serve our visitors,” Maryland Park Service Director Angela Crenshaw said. “By modernizing the technology behind our reservations, we are making it easier for people to plan their park visits, whether they are booking a campsite, a cabin, or a picnic pavilion. Our goal is to make the process smoother so visitors can focus on enjoying Maryland’s state parks they love.”
Core park amenities and experiences stay the same—no changes to facilities or offerings—but the booking experience gets an immediate boost. Pricing for campsites, rentals, and other reservations remains unchanged from the prior system. Existing bookings made before the launch will transfer seamlessly to the new platform.
To enable secure data migration, the current reservation system goes offline from February 15 through February 23, 2026. During this blackout window, no new reservations can be made, but anyone with a pre-existing booking for those dates can still arrive and check in as planned without issue.
Users must create a fresh account on the relaunched site, parkreservations.maryland.gov, starting February 24 to view carried-over reservations or make new ones. Customer support launches the same day at 9 a.m. via 1-888-432-2267, with staff ready to help with account setup, reservation retrieval, and general questions about the transition.
After a competitive bidding process, the Maryland Park Service partnered with Aspira, a Dallas-based company specializing in outdoor recreation technology with over 30 years of experience. Aspira, formerly known as ReserveAmerica—which previously handled Maryland’s reservations—now manages systems for park agencies in 23 states. The state covers costs through a per-transaction fee, which stays the same for customers as before.
This February rollout serves as phase one of a larger modernization push. Future updates will add more features to refine operations and elevate the visitor experience further, building on successes like the 2025 day-use reservation pilot at select parks that curbed overcrowding and reduced entry-line frustrations.
For Southern Maryland residents, the upgrade directly benefits popular nearby destinations such as Point Lookout State Park in St. Mary’s County, with its waterfront campsites and historic sites, and other regional gems that draw families, anglers, and hikers from Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties. Smoother online booking means less hassle securing spots for weekend getaways or holiday outings along the Chesapeake Bay or in wooded retreats.
The change arrives just in time for the 2026 camping and outdoor season, helping visitors avoid last-minute scrambles and plan ahead with confidence. Officials encourage early account creation post-launch to explore availability and take advantage of the improved tools.
No disruptions to on-site park operations are expected, and the focus remains on preserving Maryland’s natural treasures while making access more equitable and convenient for all.
