The St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s basketball team delivered a commanding road victory Saturday, overwhelming Penn State Brandywine 93-35 in United East Conference action at Brandywine Commons Gym in Media, Pennsylvania, to cap an undefeated regular season in league play.
The Seahawks, ranked No. 1 in the United East standings with a perfect 13-0 conference record and 20-5 overall mark, controlled the game from the opening tip. They built a 25-7 lead after the first quarter, pushed the halftime advantage to 49-13, and poured in 29 points in the third quarter to seal the rout. St. Mary’s finished with a 93-35 final, marking one of their most lopsided wins in a season defined by defensive intensity and balanced scoring.

Saffiyah Gibson paced the attack with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, complemented by five steals. Olivia Liszt added 16 points, three rebounds, and two assists, while Marley Saunders contributed 15 points, including three three-pointers. Keira Mason provided 11 points, four assists, two blocks, and two steals. The Seahawks’ bench delivered 47 points, with five players scoring at least eight, showcasing exceptional depth.
St. Mary’s shot 51.5 percent from the field (35-of-68), including efficient bursts across quarters, and turned 40 forced turnovers into 47 points off turnovers. They dominated the interior with a 50-18 edge in paint scoring, outscored the Lions 32-5 in fast-break points, and held a 12-4 advantage in second-chance opportunities. The defense limited Penn State Brandywine to 30.0 percent shooting (12-of-40) while pressuring them into the high turnover count.
Trinell Watson led the Lions with nine points, and Jazmyn Kemp added seven. Penn State Brandywine finished the regular season at 5-19 overall and 5-8 in conference.
This performance extended the Seahawks’ winning streak to 12 games and reinforced their dominance in the United East, where they clinched the regular-season title. Recent high-scoring outputs, such as a 93-46 win over Penn State Berks on February 10 that kept them unbeaten in conference, highlight a consistent offensive surge backed by suffocating defense. The program, based in St. Mary’s City in Southern Maryland, draws strong local support as part of the region’s emphasis on college athletics and community engagement.
With the regular season complete, St. Mary’s earned a first-round bye in the United East Conference tournament. They return to action Saturday, February 21, hosting a quarterfinal matchup at the Michael P. O’Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena. The victory positions the Seahawks as favorites to advance deep in postseason play, building on a campaign of strong road performances and conference supremacy.
The game was played before an attendance of 100, with referees Morgan Faust, Joshua Hersz, and Mike Camartoa officiating.
