Calvert County residents now have expanded access to local government programming through the newly launched Calvert County TV app, which went live on February 13, 2026, offering live streaming, on-demand videos, and key county updates across multiple devices and platforms.
The Calvert County Department of Communications & Media Relations developed the app to deliver public meetings, special events, announcements, and other official content directly to viewers. The platform supports anytime, anywhere viewing, addressing the need for convenient, transparent access to government proceedings in a county where rural areas and busy schedules can limit in-person attendance.
Eryn Lowe, director of Communications & Media Relations, stated: “Providing clear and accessible information to residents is a top priority. These new streaming options give the community more ways to stay engaged with county government.”
The app includes live broadcasts of Board of County Commissioners meetings, planning commission sessions, and other public sessions, alongside archived videos for on-demand playback. Captioning has been added to live meetings on both Comcast cable channels and the Calvert County TV stream, improving accessibility for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers countywide.
Viewers can access content through several methods:
- Download the free Calvert County TV app by searching for it on Apple App Store or Google Play Store for smartphones and tablets.
- Stream directly on smart TVs via Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, or through the web portal at www.CalvertCountyMd.gov/CalvertBroadcast.
- Watch traditional cable broadcasts on Comcast channels 99 (standard definition) and 1070 (high definition).
- Access videos on the county’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@CalvertCountyGov.
All download links and streaming instructions appear on the dedicated page at www.CalvertCountyMd.gov/CalvertBroadcast. On-demand videos of past meetings remain available at www.CalvertCountyMd.gov/1520/Videos-On-Demand.
The launch builds on Calvert County’s ongoing efforts to modernize public communication in Southern Maryland, where residents in communities from North Beach to Lusby and Prince Frederick often rely on digital tools for staying informed about local issues such as land use, emergency services, and budget decisions. The app eliminates barriers like cable-only viewing, allowing broader participation in civic life.
This initiative aligns with similar moves by neighboring jurisdictions to enhance digital outreach, reflecting a regional push for greater government transparency and resident engagement through technology. The department emphasized that the app delivers reliable, official information without third-party filters, ensuring accuracy on topics affecting daily life in Calvert County.
