St. Mary’s County Government in Leonardtown has rolled out a new digital platform to improve public access to meeting documents, marking a key advancement in governmental transparency for Southern Maryland residents.

Officials announced the launch on February 17, 2026, transitioning from the prior BoardDocs system to the Diligent platform. The upgrade covers agendas, minutes, and supporting materials for various boards, commissions, and committees, including the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County, the Planning Commission, the Board of Appeals, and additional entities.

The Diligent platform delivers an ADA-compliant interface designed for ease of use across desktops and mobile devices. Key enhancements include accelerated search functions and streamlined mobile downloads, allowing residents to locate and retrieve documents more efficiently.

Access occurs through the county’s main website at www.stmaryscountymd.gov, where users click the “Board Documents” button to enter the comprehensive online repository of official records. The system functions as a centralized library for public review of governance materials.

County leaders describe the change as a deliberate move to boost transparency, accessibility, and citizen engagement in decision-making processes. The platform supports broader efforts to keep the public informed about local operations without barriers.

Recent website activity shows the news release posted prominently under latest updates, with the PDF available at the public information office section. While some older meeting documents still reference BoardDocs links in archived PDFs from early 2026, the official transition directs users to the new Diligent system for current and future access.

This initiative aligns with regional trends in Southern Maryland toward modernizing digital tools for public records. St. Mary’s County maintains live meeting broadcasts on Government TV Channel 95 and the YouTube channel @StMarysCoGov for additional engagement.

The upgrade follows similar platform migrations in other jurisdictions, though St. Mary’s focuses on user-friendly features tailored to community needs. No reported issues with the rollout appear in available sources, and the platform remains active for ongoing use.
