Weis Markets marked its expansion into Charles County with the grand opening of a modern 65,000-square-foot supermarket in Waldorf, bringing enhanced grocery options, convenience features, and community support to Southern Maryland residents.

Company officials, led by Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Weis, joined local dignitaries for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and preview event on February 18, 2026, at the new location in Fairway Village at 4535 Fairway Village Pl. The store opened to the public at 7 a.m. on February 19, 2026.

“We are proud to bring Weis Markets to the Waldorf community and welcome local families to experience our commitment to quality, value, and convenience,” Jonathan Weis stated. “We wanted to create a gathering place uniquely suited to Waldorf—a true front porch for the community that’s welcoming and familiar. The store will offer enhanced convenience, exceptional products and great prices that customers expect.”

Store manager Tom Bill oversees operations, supported by 165 new full- and part-time associates hired locally. The facility features an expansive market-style produce department emphasizing organic selections, full-service seafood and meat counters, daily in-store sushi preparation, a deli with sliced meats, cheeses, and heat-and-serve meals, a Starbucks café with mobile app ordering for hot and cold beverages, a bakery producing fresh breads, pastries, and custom cakes, a floral department with fresh and seasonal arrangements, a drive-thru pharmacy, and a six-pump Gas N’ Go fuel center allowing Weis Rewards points redemption for gas discounts.

The design prioritizes sustainability through maximized natural light to cut daytime electrical use, energy-efficient LED lighting, and CO2 refrigeration systems that employ less harmful refrigerants than traditional supermarket setups. Customers gain access to Weis 2 Go Online ordering for curbside pickup and delivery, with trained personal shoppers handling selections.

Pricing programs include the Price Lock on high-demand seasonal items, the Low, Low Price initiative covering more than 10,000 products, and weekly Hot Buys for additional savings.

To mark the opening and recognize community support, Weis Markets donated $7,500 total to five local organizations: Hospice of the Chesapeake, Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, Last Chance Animal Rescue, LifeStyles of Maryland Foundation, and Thomas Stone High School Marching Band. The company also contributed the first Weis 2 Go order to LifeStyles of Maryland Foundation.

The Waldorf store follows Weis Markets’ recent growth in Southern Maryland, including a 2025 opening in Leonardtown, St. Mary’s County, and positions the chain as a key player in the region’s retail landscape amid population increases in the St. Charles corridor. Located in a high-traffic shopping area, it provides one-stop shopping for groceries, fuel, pharmacy services, and prepared foods, appealing to busy families and commuters in Charles County.
