YORK, Pa. – St. Mary’s College of Maryland baseball suffered an 11-0 setback against York College of Pennsylvania in nonconference play Saturday afternoon at Jaquet Field.

York jumped ahead early and never looked back, exploding for eight runs in the first two innings to build an insurmountable lead. Matthew Wade opened the scoring with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first, plating Alex Neeld and Jason Cassidy for a quick 3-0 advantage. The Spartans followed with a five-run second inning, capped by Lucas Prendergast’s three-run homer that scored Jackson Ford and Brett Michael (one unearned), pushing the margin to 8-0.

Additional tallies came via a sacrifice fly from Joe Urban in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth, including an RBI single from Neeld and an RBI single from Wade, closing the scoring at 11-0. York finished with 17 hits, led by Neeld’s perfect 4-for-4 day with three runs scored. Prendergast contributed three hits and three RBIs, while Wade drove in four.

St. Mary’s managed only three hits across seven innings. Connor Wilkerson, Rhett Fletcher, and Eli Shafer each singled, with Fletcher providing the lone extra-base hit on a double. The Seahawks committed one error and left five runners on base.

Starting pitcher Jack Overton took the loss for St. Mary’s, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits in 1.1 innings. Colin Patterson delivered 3.2 innings in relief, allowing three runs on six hits, and Nic Durick threw a scoreless sixth with no hits permitted.

Dillon Michaloski earned the win for York, blanking the Seahawks over six innings on three hits with four strikeouts. Eric Wolfer closed out the seventh scoreless.

The game lasted 1 hour, 51 minutes under partly cloudy skies with a temperature of 67 degrees and attendance of 104. Umpires were Phillip Heim behind the plate and Michael Letterman at first base.

St. Mary’s dropped to 4-4 overall with the defeat. York improved to 2-5.

The Seahawks return to action Tuesday, March 10, 2026, when they face King’s College (Pa.) at the Ripken Complex in Aberdeen, Maryland.

This result marks a tough road outing for St. Mary’s early in the 2026 season as the team continues nonconference scheduling before conference play ramps up. The Seahawks’ limited offensive output contrasted sharply with York’s timely power hitting and solid pitching from Michaloski, who controlled the game from the outset.
