Maryland’s sports wagering program generated $7,318,939 in state contributions in February 2026, bringing cumulative education funding to more than $250 million since the program’s launch in late 2021.
The Maryland Lottery and Gaming agency reported bettors wagered $515,655,127 in February, with players winning $464,594,429 in prizes. Operators retained a 9.9% hold percentage on the handle. Retail wagering accounted for $8,981,251 of the handle (with $8,630 in deductible promotional wagers), while mobile dominated at $506,673,877 (including $13,093,707 in promotional play).
Of the February state contributions, $5,509,100 went to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, which supports public education programs, and $1,809,839 from mobile operations supported the General Fund. Retail operators contribute 15% of taxable proceeds to the Blueprint Fund. In comparison, mobile operators contribute 15% to the Blueprint Fund and 5% to the General Fund—a structure in place since June 2025 that has increased overall receipts.
This brought the total Blueprint Fund contributions from sports wagering since inception to $250,392,624. The first retail sportsbooks opened in December 2021, followed by mobile launches in November 2022.
During the first eight months of Fiscal Year 2026 (July 2025 through February 2026), sports wagering returned $96,852,199 to the state. This follows January 2026, when contributions reached $10,928,540 on a higher $615,845,563 handle and 12.5% hold, with year-to-date contributions at that point totaling $89,533,261.
