A Charles County grand jury indicted Louis Delano Bowles III, 25, of Waldorf, in late February 2026 on charges related to child pornography, leading to his arrest by Charles County Sheriff’s Office officers on March 9, 2026.
Authorities charged him with 20 counts of possession of child pornography and five counts of promoting or distributing child pornography following a year-long investigation sparked by a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The Special Victims Unit received the initial report of an unknown suspect uploading child pornography from an address in Charles County. Detectives pursued leads through multiple subpoenas, cell phone data analysis, and forensic examinations over several months, as the uploads occurred sporadically. Investigators secured a search warrant for Bowles’ residence on Randall Drive in White Plains, where they recovered numerous electronic devices and a small quantity of psilocybin mushrooms.
Forensic review of the devices uncovered hundreds of images and videos, along with messages containing child pornography, including material depicting toddlers and young adolescents. No evidence indicated Bowles targeted high school-aged students during his time as a coach.
Bowles served as a track and football coach at Maurice J. McDonough High School in Charles County from 2022 to 2025. Charles County Public Schools received notification of the charges and immediately barred him from school property to ensure student safety.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office urged anyone who had contact with Bowles that seemed inappropriate to contact Detective Garner at (301) 609-6488. On March 11, 2026, the court released Bowles from the Charles County Detention Center under electronic monitoring.
This case highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement and federal partners to combat child exploitation through tips, digital forensics, and swift action. The investigation remains active, with authorities emphasizing community vigilance in reporting suspicious activity.
