Charles County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested two Waldorf residents in connection with an armed robbery that took place on March 10 in the 3000 block of Gallery Place in Waldorf, Maryland. The incident involved the theft of carpet at gunpoint during a confrontation with the victim.
The victim was installing carpet in an apartment when he observed two males removing a section of carpet that had been left outside. When he confronted them, the suspects displayed a firearm, took the carpet, and fled the scene. The victim immediately contacted the police to report the crime.

Detectives from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation, which led to the identification of two suspects. On March 19, patrol officers located and arrested the individuals. Authorities obtained search warrants for the suspects’ residences, where they recovered the stolen carpet and additional evidence related to the case.
David Jerome Ransome, 56, and Bryant Lee Lyles, 56, both of Waldorf, face charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault. Following their arrests, they were transported to the Charles County Detention Center pending appearance before a district court commissioner for bond review.
The charges stem directly from the March 10 incident, where the display of a firearm escalated the theft into an armed robbery. The recovery of the carpet and other evidence obtained through the search warrants supported the case against the suspects. No injuries were reported in the confrontation, and the investigation focused on swift identification and apprehension to address the crime in the community.
This case highlights ongoing efforts by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office to investigate property crimes involving weapons in Waldorf neighborhoods. Gallery Place, an apartment complex in southern Maryland, has seen prior law enforcement activity in recent years, though this incident appears to be isolated based on available details.
The arrests occurred nine days after the robbery, demonstrating coordinated work between detectives and patrol units. The suspects’ ages and local residency add context to the quick resolution of the case through targeted investigative leads.
