St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks is set to host the 43rd Annual Easter Egg Festival this Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds in Leonardtown, Maryland. The rain-or-shine community event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and draws families throughout Southern Maryland for a classic spring celebration.

The festival features age-appropriate egg hunts for children up to age 12, with each hunt including about 1,000 eggs and special prize-filled eggs. Egg hunt tickets cost $7 per child. Advance online purchases are available at www.stmaryscountymd.gov/Easter, with tickets also sold at the gate starting at 11 a.m. General admission to the festival remains free.

Attendees can expect live entertainment, free arts and crafts activities, face painting, local food vendors, shopping from area vendors, and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny and Mrs. Cottontail. A festival map detailing activity and vendor locations is available at www.stmaryscountymd.gov/docs/eastereggfestivalmap.pdf, and the full egg hunt schedule with start times for each age group can be found at www.stmaryscountymd.gov/docs/egghuntschedule.pdf.

This longstanding Southern Maryland tradition relies on community support. This year’s sponsors include Dash In / Splash In, Tractor Supply Company, Indian Bridge Kennels, MedStar, and the Commissioners of Leonardtown. Their contributions help make the event possible.

Net proceeds from the festival benefit the Recreation & Parks Scholarship Fund. The fund assists qualified children and teens by covering up to 50% of registration fees for R&P programs, ensuring broader access to recreational opportunities.

The Department of Recreation & Parks encourages residents to stay updated on this and other events through social media at www.Instagram.com/StMarysRecAndParks and www.Facebook.com/StMarysMDRecreation.

Festival Coordinator Crystal Haislip oversees the event and can be reached at Crystal.haislip@stmaryscountymd.gov or 301-475-4200 ext. 1806 for additional information.

The event serves as a key family gathering spot in St. Mary’s County, blending holiday fun with community engagement as spring arrives. Families planning to attend should note the egg hunt ticket details and arrive early for popular activities.
