Bowie, Md. – The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and Attain Sports, owner of the Chesapeake Baysox, announced a series of offseason enhancements at Prince George’s Stadium on March 19, 2026, to boost the fan experience ahead of the upcoming season.
The improvements focus on creating a more engaging, inclusive and Chesapeake Bay-inspired atmosphere at the 32-year-old ballpark, which has served as a regional entertainment destination since opening in 1994. The upgrades build on recent additions, including two new state-of-the-art videoboards installed for the 2025 season.

A centerpiece of the new features is a Chesapeake Bay-themed Kids Zone with a lighthouse play structure, ADA-accessible activities and soft padded surfacing for safety. The existing carousel remains in the area. Children age 12 and under can purchase a wristband for unlimited access to the amenities, while guests over 12 may enjoy select attractions such as the carousel and speed pitch.

At the front entry plaza, new bobblehead sculptures and baseball turf now greet visitors, echoing design elements at Oriole Park at Camden Yards to highlight the Baysox’ affiliation with the Baltimore Orioles.
Along the concourse, fresh drink rails provide flexible spaces for socializing and viewing the game. New ADA-accessible viewing platforms improve sightlines for all fans. The main entrance received a refresh with a large video display that will showcase team highlights, content and game-day information.

Vibrant Chesapeake Bay-inspired crab murals, along with updated finishes and visual elements throughout the stadium, add local flavor and reinforce the team’s regional identity. Improved wayfinding signage helps fans navigate concessions, seating, the team store and kids’ activities more easily.
These changes complement the broader $50 million stadium modernization initiative announced in January 2025 with the Maryland Stadium Authority. That larger project addresses Professional Development League standards and includes construction of state-of-the-art performance centers with enhanced batting areas.

Darius A. Stanton, Director of the M-NCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County, highlighted the community focus. “We are excited about the new enhancements at the Prince George’s Stadium reflecting the Department’s ongoing commitment to live more, play more in Prince George’s County,” he said. “These upgrades will make visiting this ballpark even more exciting and welcoming for all. We are grateful for the continued partnership with Attain Sports, the Chesapeake Baysox, and the Maryland Stadium Authority for helping bring these improvements to life and ensuring Prince George’s Stadium remains a premier destination for sports and entertainment in our county.”
Greg Baroni, Founder and CEO of Attain Sports, emphasized the long-term vision. “These improvements reflect our long-term commitment to Bowie, Prince George’s County, the broader Chesapeake region, and the incredible fans who make this ballpark special,” he said. “Our vision is to create a community-centered venue that delivers affordable, family-friendly entertainment while honoring the Chesapeake Bay identity that defines this region. Working alongside M-NCPPC and the Maryland Stadium Authority, we are investing not only in infrastructure—but in memories.”
The Canopy Team and Younts Design assisted with the design process for the latest upgrades.
On the field, the Chesapeake Baysox open the 2026 season on the road Thursday, April 2, against the Hartford Yard Goats. The home opener at Prince George’s Stadium is set for Tuesday, April 7, against the Erie SeaWolves with first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
A highlight of the summer schedule is the first-ever appearance of Banana Ball at the stadium on Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1. Fans will see the Indianapolis Clowns face the Loco Beach Coconuts in the popular exhibition format. Premium tickets for these games are available through the Baysox front office, with officials urging fans to secure them early.
Prince George’s Stadium, located in Bowie in Prince George’s County, continues to serve Southern Maryland and the greater Washington region as a hub for affordable family entertainment. The latest enhancements aim to attract new generations of fans while maintaining the ballpark’s role as a community gathering place.
These investments align with ongoing efforts to keep Minor League Baseball venues competitive and accessible. By blending modern amenities with Chesapeake Bay themes, the updates strengthen the stadium’s appeal to local families and visitors from across the region.
