LEONARDTOWN, Md. – St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested two people and seized suspected fentanyl, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a loaded unserialized 12-gauge firearm during a search warrant execution in Lexington Park on March 26, 2026.

The operation targeted a residence in the 20000 block of Spring Hill Road as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug trafficking. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division carried out the warrants and took Tavoy Kelly Summerville, 47, and Shadona Rockele Reed, 40, into custody at the scene.

Seized items included 40.3 grams of suspected fentanyl, four unidentified white tablets, seven individually packaged quantities of suspected fentanyl and 3.5 grams of suspected cocaine along with drug paraphernalia and the firearm.

Summerville faces 12 charges: possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute; possession of a large amount of fentanyl; possession of a regulated firearm after conviction of a disqualifying crime; possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime; wear, carry or transport a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime; possession of ammunition after conviction of a disqualifying crime; possession of a firearm without a required serial number; possession of fentanyl; possession of cocaine; keeping and maintaining a dwelling where controlled dangerous substances or paraphernalia are illegally manufactured, distributed, dispensed, stored or concealed; possession of a digital scale and baggies adopted for the production of fentanyl; and use of an assault weapon magazine with capacity of more than 10 rounds in the commission of a felony.

Reed was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to use paraphernalia.

Both individuals were transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center. Reed was released pending a future court date. Summerville remained held pending a bond review.

The arrests mark another enforcement action in Lexington Park, an area that has seen repeated sheriff’s office operations targeting drug activity in recent months. Southern Maryland continues to face challenges with fentanyl distribution, which authorities link to rising overdose incidents across the region.

St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office officials have emphasized proactive investigations and warrant service to disrupt local trafficking networks. The department encourages residents to report suspected drug activity through its tip line or anonymous channels.

This case remains active as charges proceed through the District Court of Maryland for St. Mary’s County. Court dates for both defendants were not immediately available in the initial release.

The sheriff’s office did not release additional details about the investigation’s origins or any potential links to larger distribution rings.

Lexington Park, located in the southern portion of St. Mary’s County near Naval Air Station Patuxent River, serves as a commercial hub for the region while facing ongoing public safety concerns tied to substance abuse and related crime.

The March 26 operation demonstrates continued focus by local law enforcement on removing dangerous narcotics and illegal firearms from Southern Maryland communities. Fentanyl, in particular, has been highlighted in multiple recent sheriff’s office announcements as a primary threat due to its potency and prevalence in the local supply.

No injuries were reported during the warrant service. The investigation continues under the Criminal Investigations Division.

The next public update on this case is expected as arraignments and preliminary hearings are scheduled in the coming weeks.
