
LA PLATA, Md. — Dominic Powell, Vice President of Business Development and Partnerships at Educational Systems Federal Credit Union, has been appointed Vice Chair of the College of Southern Maryland Foundation Board of Directors. The appointment takes effect in October 2025.
Educational Systems Federal Credit Union announced the news on April 3, 2026. Powell joined the CSM Foundation Board in 2024 and has actively supported efforts to expand access to higher education and create stronger opportunities for students across Southern Maryland.
In his role at the credit union, Powell leads initiatives that build partnerships with community colleges, school systems and education-focused organizations. His work aligns with the credit union’s mission to empower individuals and communities through accessible financial solutions and educational collaborations.

The CSM Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising and managing funds for scholarships, workforce development programs and initiatives that enhance educational opportunities at the College of Southern Maryland. The foundation plays a key role in helping students in Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties overcome financial barriers to postsecondary education.

Powell brings extensive experience in the region’s education and nonprofit sectors. He has served on multiple boards and advisory groups focused on supporting students, educators and local organizations. His new leadership position as Vice Chair underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen educational partnerships in Southern Maryland.
The College of Southern Maryland serves thousands of students each year through its campuses in La Plata, Leonardtown and Prince Frederick, as well as online programs. The foundation’s work directly supports scholarships and initiatives that address workforce needs in key industries across the tri-county area.
Educational Systems Federal Credit Union has served the education community since 1955. With more than $1.3 billion in assets and 13 branches, the institution serves over 80,000 members, including school employees, students, parents and individuals affiliated with education-related organizations.
