CALIFORNIA, Md. — An 18-year-old man from California became the second person arrested in connection with a shots-fired incident at Myrtle Point Park in St. Mary’s County, authorities said. The arrest came two days after deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the popular waterfront park.

Armonie Josiah Jordan, 18, of California, was taken into custody without incident Thursday night, April 2, 2026. He faces five charges: illegal possession of a regulated firearm, handgun on person, loaded handgun on person, illegal possession of ammunition and reckless endangerment.

Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to Myrtle Point Park at approximately 6:53 p.m. on April 1, 2026, after receiving multiple reports of shots fired. A juvenile was arrested at the scene that evening and charged as an adult. The park was temporarily closed during the initial investigation.

Detectives continued working the case and identified Jordan as an additional suspect. An arrest warrant was issued, leading to his apprehension. Jordan was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown to await a bond hearing.

No injuries were reported from the incident, according to official statements. Myrtle Point Park, located along the Patuxent River in the 24000 block of Patuxent Boulevard, is a frequent gathering spot for families and youth in Southern Maryland, offering boat ramps, fishing areas and open spaces. The shooting prompted heightened concern among residents who use the park for recreation.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation into the circumstances that led to the gunfire. Detectives are working to determine exactly what occurred and whether additional individuals were involved.
