Maryland sports wagering generated $8,803,180 in state contributions during March 2026, pushing the fiscal year total past $100 million with three months remaining.

Bettors wagered $604,713,646 in March and received $541,993,893 in prizes, leaving operators with a 10.4 percent hold on the total handle. The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency released the figures April 10, 2026, from Baltimore.

Of the March contributions, $6,628,169 went to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund that supports public education programs. An additional $2,175,011 from mobile wagering proceeds went to the state’s General Fund. Retail operators contribute 15 percent of taxable proceeds to the Blueprint Fund. Mobile operators contribute 15 percent to the Blueprint Fund and 5 percent to the General Fund.

Through the first nine months of Fiscal Year 2026, which runs from July 2025 through June 2026, sports wagering returned $105,655,380 to the state. This marks continued growth for the program that launched retail operations in December 2021 and mobile betting in November 2022.

Detailed breakdowns show retail handle at $9,466,511, including $19,030 in deductible free promotional wagers. Mobile handle reached $595,247,135, including $17,027,907 in promotional wagers. Combined prizes paid totaled $541,993,893.

Since program inception, cumulative contributions to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund total $257,020,793. The General Fund has received $26,011,320, and expired prizes contributed $5,390,537 to the Problem Gambling Fund.

Southern Maryland residents participate through both retail locations and mobile platforms. Charles County is home to the Riverboat on the Potomac, one of the state’s retail sportsbooks. Local bettors also access the dozen licensed mobile operators available across Maryland.

The March results follow February’s $7.3 million contribution and continue a pattern where mobile wagering dominates the handle. Mobile accounted for more than 98 percent of March wagers.

State officials direct Blueprint Fund dollars to education initiatives under the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future plan. These include expanded prekindergarten, teacher salary boosts, and college and career readiness programs that benefit students in Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties.

The General Fund portion supports broader state services. Problem Gambling Fund resources address treatment and prevention services for those affected by wagering.
