St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday evening in Lexington Park.

Deputies responded at approximately 7:06 p.m. on April 12, 2026, to the 21000 block of Susan Lane for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, they located a male victim with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was flown by helicopter to a nearby trauma center. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Preliminary information indicates the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute earlier in the day. Authorities stated there is no known ongoing threat to public safety.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division have taken over the case. Detective Phillip Henry is the lead investigator.
