The streets of Silver Spring, Maryland, would be lined with metal fans as The Fillmore hosted a phenomenal triple-threat weekend show featuring headliner Slaughter To Prevail, Whitechapel and Attila. The sold-out show brought in a sea of death metal shirt-wearing fans as they promptly filled up the venue and ensured an incredibly enthusiastic, brutal night.
Opening the night was Attila, and their set included songs with a combination of heavy metal and rap. The set contained a carefree and braggadocious mood, combined with the constant chug of the downtuned guitars. The mood was set with their hit song “Middle Fingers Up,” a fast-paced anthem simply speaking about not caring about others’ opinions. Attila tore through their set, stirring up the crowd into mosh pits and setting the mood for a heavy and impactful night.

Whitechapel followed the opening act with the dissonant guitar of the opening song “Prisoner 666,” and the song exploded with vocalist Phil Bozeman giving a performance with both high-pitched squeals and deep bassy growls. The band continued playing several hits from their latest album, such as “Hymns in Dissonance,” “A Visceral Retch” and “Bedlam,” before pulling from their earlier catalog and ending the set with their 2008 hit “This Is Exile.” Whitechapel brought a level of sonic brutality and extremity that very few bands have ever been able to reach and served as an excellent lead-up to Slaughter To Prevail.

Finishing out the evening, Slaughter To Prevail’s set started with an electronic music intro, channeling an almost EDM-style sound as the band made it onto the stage. The band started their set with the thunderous and destructive “Bonebreaker” as bodies surfed their way up to the pit while Slaughter To Prevail’s vocalist Alex Terrible belched out inhuman sounds and vocals. The masked quintet continued, this time playing the intro song “Banditos” off their 2025 album “Grizzly,” and the song contained deep guttural screams and blaring guitars, all culminating with a powerful chorus. Alex unmasked himself for the third song, “Russian Grizzly in America,” in which he commanded the crowd to mosh and form a circle pit. The rest of the set continued with a combination of recent songs and classics that popularized the band until it wound down with the anthemic “Behlit,” with the crowd screaming the song along with the band. Following it up, Alex returned with his mask on to play their 2019 hit song “Demolisher” to cap off an extreme and exciting night.
Slaughter To Prevail brought a show to The Fillmore that was packed with an intense light show and an energetic performance that kept dedicated fans and newcomers moshing and staying until the very last chord.
