The Calvert Marine Museum announced Tuesday that rock legends ZZ Top with special guest George Thorogood & the Destroyers will perform Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, at 7 p.m. as the fourth concert in the museum’s 2026 Waterside Music Series. The show will take place at the Motto Mortgage Preferred and RE/MAX One Waterside Pavilion in Solomons.

ZZ Top, known worldwide as “That Little Ol’ Band From Texas,” formed in 1969 and has delivered its signature blend of rock, blues and boogie for more than five decades. Hits such as “La Grange,” “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs” helped the trio sell hundreds of millions of records worldwide. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and continues as one of rock music’s most enduring acts.

George Thorogood & the Destroyers bring their high-energy blues-rock sound as the opening act. The pairing promises a night of classic riffs, gritty vocals and crowd favorites along the Patuxent River waterfront.

Tickets for the Sept. 11 concert go on sale to Calvert Marine Museum members Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10 a.m. Eastern time. Public sales begin Friday, April 24, at 10 a.m. Eastern time. Prices range from 60 dollars to 110 dollars with all-in pricing. Both general admission and reserved seating options are available.

All tickets must be purchased exclusively through Etix.com, the museum’s verified ticketing platform. Purchases through third-party resellers cannot be verified or honored by the museum. Artist presales and VIP packages will also be offered with details available on Etix.com.

The 2026 series continues the museum’s tradition of bringing major touring acts to Southern Maryland. Previous Waterside concerts have featured a wide range of performers, from rock and country headliners to tribute acts, drawing thousands of fans to Solomons each summer.

Local businesses and community supporters make the series possible. Sponsors for the 2026 season include Motto Mortgage Preferred, RE/MAX One, Prince Frederick Ford Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, Quality Built Homes, City Wide Mechanical, Bayside Fire, Bozick Distributors Inc., Blue Heron Bed and Breakfast, Shore United Bank, Sabre Systems, Asbury-Solomons, Bahr Insurance, J. Calvin Wood and others.

The Calvert Marine Museum tells three stories of the Chesapeake Bay region through exhibits on paleontology, estuarine biology and maritime heritage. The Waterside Music Series provides additional revenue that helps fund ongoing research, boat restoration, educational outreach and care for the museum’s collection of historic vessels, fossils and artifacts.

Southern Maryland residents and visitors from across the region attend the outdoor concerts, which often sell out quickly. The pavilion setting allows for both seated and lawn viewing areas with easy access to museum facilities.

The Sept. 11 date marks a major booking for the series and is expected to draw strong interest from classic rock fans throughout St. Mary’s, Calvert and Charles counties. Gates typically open one hour before showtime, though exact details will be confirmed closer to the event.

Membership offers priority access and helps sustain the cultural and educational mission that has made the Calvert Marine Museum a cornerstone of Southern Maryland for decades.
