BOWIE — The Chesapeake Baysox opened their six-game road trip with a commanding 11-3 victory over the Erie SeaWolves on Tuesday night, delivering an offensive showcase that matched their season-high run total and featured three home runs.
The Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles jumped ahead in the first inning and never trailed, improving to 11-10 on the young season. Anderson De Los Santos provided the early spark with a three-run homer that cleared the 36-foot wall in left field at UPMC Park, staking Chesapeake to a 3-0 lead. The blast marked De Los Santos’ fourth home run of 2026. Through 19 games, he sports a 1.154 OPS, ranking fifth among Eastern League hitters with at least 60 plate appearances.
Chesapeake kept adding against Erie starter Kenny Serwa. In the fourth inning, Adam Retzbach delivered a two-run double to deep center field, and Carter Young followed with an RBI single that scored Retzbach. The Baysox led 6-2 when right-hander Evan Yates completed his outing after five innings — his longest Double-A start to date. Yates allowed two runs on five hits, struck out two and walked one to earn the victory and improve to 1-1.

The visitors pulled away in the later frames. Two wild pitches in the seventh plated additional runs, with Aron Estrada delivering a sacrifice fly. Retzbach then launched a two-run homer to right-center in the eighth, finishing with four RBIs on the night and pushing the lead to 10-2. After Erie added a run in the bottom of the eighth, Estrada capped the scoring with a solo shot to right field — his second homer of the season. Estrada also collected his first three-hit game of 2026.
Eight of the nine Baysox starters recorded at least one hit. Ethan Anderson contributed a pair of singles in another multi-hit effort. The balanced attack and timely power highlighted a complete performance from a Chesapeake team showing strong momentum early in the campaign.
For fans across Southern Maryland, the Baysox continue to provide exciting professional baseball close to home. As the Orioles’ top Double-A club, the team serves as a key developmental stop for Baltimore’s prospects while delivering entertaining nights for families in Prince George’s, Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties who make the trip to Prince George’s Stadium.
The Baysox will look to build on Tuesday’s dominance as the series continues Wednesday night in Erie. Left-hander Luis De León (1-1, 5.63 ERA) gets the start for Chesapeake against Erie left-hander Carlos Peña (2-1, 2.51 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. from UPMC Park.
Chesapeake returns home next week for a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday, May 5, against the Altoona Curve, the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The strong start to the road series underscores the depth and offensive potential within the Orioles’ farm system. With consistent contributions up and down the lineup and solid outings from developing pitchers like Yates, the Baysox are positioning themselves as contenders in the Eastern League’s early standings. Southern Maryland baseball fans can look forward to more action when the club returns to Bowie, where community support remains a driving force behind the team’s success.
