Our Spotlight on the Arts for May 2026 shines brightly on multi-talented artist Jamarie Bush! Jamarie is a multi-talented artist, cartoonist, illustrator, graphic designer, author, and gamer.
Our featured artist graduated from Great Mills High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Visual Communications and Digital Media Arts from Bowie State University in 2023. He completed an internship with Boom! Animation during his last semester at Bowie State.

How would you describe your art form?
I describe my art form as simplistic, playful, and kid-friendly.
Tell us more about your YouTube channel!
My YouTube channel is one to inspire others to create their own artwork and develop their own style while showing viewers how to do things that seem challenging until it is broken down into a step-by-step process.
Do you have a favorite style or other favorite aspect of your artwork?
People might classify my style as anime, but I’m not all that interested in anime. I describe my style as modern because modern cartoons can be drawn by the discretion of the artist.
What are your other interests outside of your art? I like to play video games and go places.
Is there anything else that you would like to share with us?
I am currently working on a children’s book, working on the story. It’s supposed to inspire others to be creative. It’s meant to be an interactive children’s book with an adventure. As the book progresses, the viewer draws along with the main character, bringing their drawings to life, and using them to save the day and help the other fictional characters in the book.
