The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in solving the 2018 shooting death of a young Waldorf rapper whose family still seeks justice eight years later.
On May 1, 2018, at approximately 10 p.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of Stream Vista Place in Waldorf for a reported shooting. They found 20-year-old Antonio Lamount Harper Jr. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Harper was walking toward his mother’s apartment with his uncle when an unknown suspect approached and fired several shots. The suspect then fled. Harper performed as the rising rapper A1 Lil’ Tony and had only begun recording music about two years earlier. Family members described him as known throughout the D.C. area for his infectious smile and outgoing personality.

The case remains one of the agency’s active cold cases. Detectives and forensic personnel continue to review every piece of evidence, re-interview witnesses, re-examine surveillance footage and apply new forensic technologies, including DNA analysis, ballistics and forensic genealogy.
“Cold case investigations remain a top priority for our agency,” the sheriff’s office stated. “Our dedicated team of detectives and forensic personnel work in close partnership with allied agencies and laboratories to continually review unsolved cases, carefully reexamining every piece of evidence.”
The agency has seen recent successes using these methods, including the resolution of a 44-year-old murder and the identification of a woman who had remained unnamed for more than 25 years. Officials say today’s advancements in forensic science can bring new answers to cases that once had few leads.
A combined reward of up to $10,000 is being offered by the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and Charles County Crime Solvers for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS. Tips can remain anonymous.
Waldorf, part of the rapidly growing Charles County region in Southern Maryland, has seen increased focus on public safety and community partnerships in recent years. The sheriff’s office encourages residents to remain vigilant and report any details they recall from the 2018 incident, no matter how small.
The family of Antonio Lamount Harper Jr. continues to grieve and hopes the renewed attention will bring answers.
