Calvert County Public Schools has recognized five outstanding students and staff members with the 2026 Superintendent’s Lighthouse Award for their leadership, integrity, kindness and dedication to the school community.
The annual award honors individuals who “light the way” by consistently going above and beyond, serving as role models for students and colleagues across the district. This year’s recipients include three students and two staff members who exemplify the core values of CCPS in classrooms, on athletic fields and in daily interactions.

Levi Buck, a student at Barstow Elementary, was recognized for his leadership, integrity and kindness. From responsibly managing bus dismissal with maturity and accuracy to being a selfless and supportive teammate on and off the field, Levi consistently puts others first. He leads by example — helping classmates, ensuring fairness and always leaving spaces better than he found them. Teachers and coaches describe him as respectful, reliable and inclusive.
Claire Williams, a student at Plum Point Middle, is an exceptional leader who shines academically, athletically and personally. A 4.0 student taking 10th grade Geometry as an 8th grader, Claire balances rigorous coursework with multiple sports and leadership roles. As a basketball team captain, peer tutor with National Junior Honor Society and FCA huddle leader, she mentors younger students, lifts up her peers and leads with humility and composure. She is always willing to help and include others.
Henry Downs, Jr., a student at Calvert High, was honored for his respectfulness, strong character and positive leadership. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Henry consistently encourages his peers and treats both staff and classmates with kindness and good manners. On the field, he goes above and beyond by ensuring equipment is put away and teammates are taken care of before he leaves. He is committed to self-improvement and teamwork.
Rebecca Noltemeyer, a teacher at Mt. Harmony Elementary, is making a lasting impact well beyond her classroom. Known for her kindness, genuine connections and unwavering support, Ms. Noltemeyer continues to check in on former students, celebrate their milestones and make each child feel seen and valued. By listening, encouraging curiosity and building meaningful relationships with students and families, she goes above and beyond every day.
Cathy Davis, a Social Worker at Calvert Country School, is a guiding light for both elementary and secondary students. Supporting nearly every student, she serves as an anchor to the secondary team and spends countless hours aligning incentives with students’ BIPs and IEPs. With an always-open door, Ms. Davis provides thoughtful guidance, practical strategies and compassionate support — holding students accountable while helping them succeed.
The honorees will be formally recognized at the district’s Staff Recognition Ceremony. Their stories highlight the strong sense of community and commitment to excellence that defines Calvert County Public Schools, which serves families across the growing tri-county region of Southern Maryland.
