Maryland’s sports wagering market generated $9,140,902 in contributions to the state during April 2026.
Sports bettors wagered $574,228,456 during the month and won back $511,137,993 in prizes. Sportsbook operators held 11.0% of the handle.
Of the April contributions, nearly $6.9 million went to public education programs supported by the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund. Since the inception of the sports wagering program in December 2021, $263,910,854 has gone to the Blueprint Fund.
Retail sports wagering operators contribute 15% of their taxable proceeds to the Blueprint Fund. Mobile operators contribute 15% of their proceeds to the Blueprint Fund and 5% to the state’s General Fund. In April, the combined retail and mobile contribution to the Blueprint Fund was $6,890,062, while an additional $2,250,841 in mobile proceeds went to the General Fund.
Through the first 10 months of Fiscal Year 2026 (July 2025 through April 2026), sports wagering has returned a total of $114,796,282 to the state.
The funds support education initiatives across Maryland, including public schools in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties. Southern Maryland residents frequently participate in sports wagering at nearby casinos such as MGM National Harbor and Live! Casino & Hotel, helping generate revenue that benefits local classrooms, teacher salaries and student programs.
