Waldorf families now have a new destination for creative play and learning with the grand opening of Pure Play Every Day’s STEAM Room.

The nonprofit organization announced the opening of the vibrant, hands-on space designed to bring children and caregivers together through the power of play. Located at 2781 Old Washington Road, the STEAM Room offers interactive experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and meaningful family connections.

“This space was designed for the community,” said Patty Stine, Executive Director of Pure Play Every Day. “We wanted to create a place where families feel welcome, where children can learn through joyful play, and where connections between people grow naturally.”

The STEAM Room is part of a shared space with Future Leaders II: Inspired Education, strengthening a shared vision of supporting early childhood development and building a connected community in Charles County.

To celebrate the opening, Pure Play Every Day will host a Grand Opening event on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. The open house runs from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Community members, families, and educators are invited to attend and experience the space firsthand. Guests can expect hands-on activities, opportunities to connect with local families and educators, and a welcoming environment designed for all ages.

Pure Play Every Day is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to connecting people through play. By creating engaging, hands-on environments and programs, the organization supports children, families, and educators in building creativity, curiosity, and connection every day.

The new STEAM Room brings that vision to life by creating a space where learning, connection, and joy intersect in the heart of Waldorf. The facility will provide a valuable resource for families across Charles County and the broader Southern Maryland region, where opportunities for interactive, educational play spaces continue to grow alongside the expanding population.

Waldorf, a rapidly growing community in northern Charles County, is home to many young families seeking accessible, enriching activities for children. The STEAM Room fills an important gap by offering a dedicated space for hands-on learning that complements local schools and parks while fostering stronger family bonds.
