The St. Mary’s County Museum Division was established by the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County to collect, preserve, research and interpret historic sites and artifacts illustrating the natural and cultural histories of St. Mary’s County and the Potomac River. The division oversees St. Clement’s Island Museum, Piney Point Lighthouse Museum, the Old Jail Museum and the Drayden African American Schoolhouse. It also serves as a resource, liaison and community advocate for all public and private cultural assets in the county.
This Father’s Day promotion is an annual observance by the county to encourage families to visit local historic sites. The free admission for dads at Piney Point applies only to the museum exhibit areas during the stated hours. No other discounts or changes to operations were announced.
St. Clement’s Island Museum closed in August 2025 ahead of construction on a new facility. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, with the mainland ceremony for Maryland Day paused this year due to the work.
