ERIE, Pa. — The Chesapeake Baysox snapped their skid with a 9-2 win over the Erie SeaWolves on Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Park.

Chesapeake improved to 18-28. The Baysox collected 12 hits, including four from Anderson De Los Santos — his first four-hit game at the Double-A level — and three from Aron Estrada, who doubled from both sides of the plate and drove in three runs.

The Baysox took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Estrada doubled into right field from the left side and scored on De Los Santos’ single. Erie answered with two runs in the third to take a brief 2-1 lead. John Peck homered off Chesapeake starter Evan Yates in the first, then doubled and scored on a Thayron Liranzo single in the third.

Yates (W, 2-2) settled in after the early trouble, allowing only those two runs over five innings while striking out five. The right-hander limited the SeaWolves to three hits in his outing.

Chesapeake pulled away with a six-run fourth inning. Seven of the first eight batters reached base safely. The Baysox loaded the bases on two walks and a hit against Erie starter Max Alba (L, 0-1). Alba was relieved after Johnny Tincher’s sacrifice fly tied the score at 2-2.

A wild pitch gave Chesapeake the go-ahead run. Estrada’s second double of the game plated two more runs for a 5-2 lead. Thomas Sosa tripled off the top of the wall in right to score Estrada, making it 6-2. De Los Santos singled home the inning’s sixth run to push the advantage to 7-2.

The Baysox added their final two runs in the seventh. Tavian Josenberger drove in a run with a groundout, and Estrada delivered a run-scoring single for his third hit of the day.

Wednesday marked Estrada’s third three-hit game of the season. The Orioles’ No. 7 prospect per MLB Pipeline is batting .325 in May. Carter Young added two singles and scored a run, extending his on-base streak to nine consecutive games. Adam Retzbach reached base three times with a single and two walks.

The Baysox bullpen shut down Erie after the fourth. Right-handers Zane Barnhart and Daniel Lloyd each threw two scoreless innings.

The win ended a stretch of recent struggles for Chesapeake. The Baysox continue their six-game series in Erie on Thursday night. Left-hander Joseph Dzierwa (0-1, 5.06 ERA) is scheduled to start for Chesapeake against right-hander Kenny Serwa (1-5, 6.55 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. at UPMC Park.

Chesapeake returns home for a six-game series beginning Tuesday, June 2, against the Akron RubberDucks, the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. The Baysox play at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.

The Eastern League season continues through September. Fans can follow the Baysox online for schedule updates, ticket information and streaming options.
