PRINCE FREDERICK — The CalvertHealth Foundation’s 37th Annual Benefit Golf Classic raised more than $140,000 to advance women’s health services at CalvertHealth Medical Center, setting a new fundraising record for the long-running Southern Maryland event.

More than 160 golfers and volunteers participated in the tournament, presented by Networking Concepts and Silva Contracting, at The Cannon Club in Lothian on May 11. Proceeds will directly support expanded women’s health programs, including access to advanced diagnostic equipment, specialized care and community outreach initiatives that serve patients across Calvert County and the broader Southern Maryland region.

Since its inception in 1990, the Benefit Golf Classic has raised more than $2 million for CalvertHealth, helping fund critical patient care equipment and essential hospital services. The event remains one of the region’s most successful annual fundraisers, drawing community leaders, local businesses and supporters committed to keeping high-quality healthcare close to home for Calvert County families.

Foundation Board Trustee and Golf Committee Chair Maria Icaza of Dunkin’/The Prince Frederick Group highlighted the community’s ongoing support. “It is an honor to be part of this incredible annual event, which continues to grow year after year thanks to the dedication and generosity of our community,” Icaza said. “We are deeply grateful to our sponsors and golfers—this tournament would not be possible without their support.”

Jeremy Bradford added, “Because of your support, we are able to expand and strengthen women’s health services—ensuring access to high-quality care for the patients and families who rely on us every day.”

CalvertHealth Medical Center, located in Prince Frederick, serves as the primary healthcare provider for Calvert County and parts of neighboring Southern Maryland counties. The hospital recently earned an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade and a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a distinction held by only about 100 hospitals nationwide. These recognitions reflect the organization’s focus on patient safety and quality care, areas bolstered by philanthropic support from events like the Golf Classic.

The tournament featured two flights of 152 golfers. The first flight was won by Steve Keithley, Nick Holden, Ben Ricker and Joey Dilodovico. Dale Gertz, Rodney Gertz, Patrick Dodson and Taylor Debord claimed top honors in the second flight. Additional contest winners included Will Packer (Closest to the Pin — Men), Helen Mulford (Closest to the Pin — Women), Matt Silva (Longest Drive — Men), Helen Mulford (Longest Drive — Women), B.J. Peterson (Putting Contest) and Willy C. (Helicopter Ball Drop).

Women’s health services at CalvertHealth encompass a range of programs including breast health, gynecologic care, maternity services and preventive screenings. Funds raised through the Golf Classic help ensure patients receive timely, compassionate care without the need to travel long distances to larger metropolitan hospitals. This is especially important in Calvert County, where residents value accessible local healthcare.

The CalvertHealth Foundation works year-round to support the medical center through philanthropic giving, special events and community partnerships. The Benefit Golf Classic remains a cornerstone of these efforts, combining recreation with meaningful impact for Southern Maryland families.

CalvertHealth officials noted that the record fundraising total reflects growing community investment in local healthcare. As Calvert County continues to grow, the need for expanded women’s health services remains a priority. The Foundation’s initiatives help bridge gaps in care and improve outcomes for women and their families.

The event also strengthens connections between the hospital, local businesses and residents. Sponsors and participants represent a cross-section of the Southern Maryland business community, underscoring broad support for CalvertHealth’s mission.

Looking ahead, the CalvertHealth Foundation plans additional events and programs to sustain momentum for women’s health initiatives. Residents interested in supporting these efforts can visit the Foundation’s website for more information on giving opportunities and upcoming events.

The success of the 37th Annual Benefit Golf Classic demonstrates the power of community collaboration in Southern Maryland. By coming together on the golf course, participants helped ensure that women in Calvert County and surrounding areas have access to the high-quality, locally based care they deserve.
