CHESAPEAKE BEACH — A physical altercation near a popular recreational area in Chesapeake Beach led to assault charges against one man and separate disorderly conduct charges against the other after he became unruly while receiving treatment at the local hospital.

On May 30, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m., Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported disturbance outside Traders Steak & Ale at 3855 Gordon Stinnett Avenue. They found an adult male with injuries consistent with an assault. The investigation determined the incident began as a fight between two men near the pavilion area at Kellam’s Field, 3825 Gordon Stinnett Avenue.

During the altercation, Nathan Oliver White, 44, of Chesapeake Beach, allegedly stabbed the other man in the upper body with a flathead screwdriver, according to charging documents. White fled but was located and taken into custody a short distance away by responding deputies. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident, which occurred in a public recreational area adjacent to waterfront dining and gathering spots in Chesapeake Beach. Kellam’s Field and nearby Gordon Stinnett Avenue serve as common locations for community activities and visitors to the town’s beachfront district.

Both men are adults, and the charges against each remain allegations pending court proceedings. The events highlight law enforcement response to calls involving public disturbances in Calvert County communities that draw both residents and out-of-town visitors.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the case to contact Det. Michael Mudd at Michael.mudd@calvertcountymd.gov and reference case #26-48089.
