SOUTHERN MARYLAND — The Chesapeake Ghost baseball organization has announced the creation of its 14U showcase team, with a focus on advanced player development and broader competitive opportunities for athletes in the region.

The team is intended for players seeking to move beyond local-level play and gain exposure at higher levels. It will emphasize preparation for high school, collegiate and showcase baseball through a structured tournament schedule. Standout performers may receive invitations to the Ghost National Team, with scheduling arranged around individual player development needs.

Mikey Farrell, president of Chesapeake Ghost, said the program aims to push players beyond familiar competition. “We aren’t looking to just play teams in our own backyard,” Farrell said. “Our goal is to develop true competitors—kids who want to play tough competition, embrace accountability and respect the game. We meet players exactly where they are, but we push them to become the absolute best version of themselves.”

Players will have access to a planned indoor training facility for year-round, data-driven instruction tailored to individual mechanics and physical needs. The organization is currently identifying talent across Southern Maryland. Interested players and families can submit information through an online form.

Farrell described the target participants as those seeking more rigorous challenges. “If you’re comfortable dominating C-level tournaments for plastic trophies, then you’re probably not being pushed to grow,” he said. “At Chesapeake Ghost, we’re building a culture for players who want more — more competition, more development, and more opportunities to prove themselves against elite talent across the region and the country. Real growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone and compete against the best. If you’re hungry to elevate your game, embrace the grind, and see what you’re truly capable of, then it’s time to stop settling and start chasing greatness with us.”

The organization describes its approach as combining high-level coaching with modern training technology to support discipline and exposure. The 14U team represents an expansion of existing programs in the area.

Southern Maryland youth baseball participants often compete in local and regional leagues before advancing to travel or showcase teams. Programs at this age level can provide pathways for skill development and visibility to college recruiters. The addition of a dedicated 14U showcase squad offers a local option for players seeking structured advancement.
