PITTSBURGH — Fred Rogers Productions has launched an official YouTube channel for Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, marking the first dedicated online home for the iconic children’s series.

The channel, developed in partnership with Little Dot Studios, debuted globally on June 4 with full episodes, a livestream, clips and compilations. It aims to engage viewers of all ages with the show’s enduring themes of kindness, curiosity and community.

“With its timeless messages of care and kindness, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood is as relevant now as when it first aired,” said Ellen Doherty, chief creative officer and executive producer at Fred Rogers Productions. “We’re excited to make the series more available for families and fans with this official YouTube destination. We think parents will connect with the authenticity of Fred Rogers’ messages. He was someone who really understood the big feelings and big questions of children—and of their grown-ups.”

The channel will expand access to nearly 900 episodes of the series, which originally aired from 1968 to 2001. It launches with five full-length episodes, including the first one that premiered nationally in 1968. One additional episode will be added each week, with a rotating selection of ten full episodes available at any time.

Viewers will also find clips, shorts, monthly compilations and livestreams. Future plans include exclusive content with archival footage and behind-the-scenes material. Playlists and compilations will focus on classic segments such as the Neighborhood of Make-Believe and factory visits.

“We hope this channel will become a place where families can slow down together,” said Kristin DiQuollo, creative director of the Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood YouTube Channel. “We’re thoughtfully curating playlists and compilations around classic segments like the Neighborhood of Make-Believe and factory visits. We’ll also have rarely seen full episodes, livestreams of special theme weeks, visits with beloved neighbors, and lots of playful and musical moments. Most of all, we hope the channel will help remind everyone how unique and special they each are.”

Fred Rogers created, hosted, composed music for and puppeteered characters in all 895 episodes. The series transformed children’s television by addressing young viewers’ inner lives with honesty and respect.

The channel will highlight themes such as curiosity about the world, how things are made, learning from mistakes, kindness, self-love and managing big feelings. Classic songs will support children navigating emotional challenges.

Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood continues to air on PBS stations nationwide. Select episodes are available on the PBS KIDS Video app, Prime Video and the Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood channel on Pluto TV. Episodes also stream free on PBS Retro through Plex, Roku, Vizio, TCL and LG.

Southern Maryland families can access the channel to share classic episodes with children or revisit the series for its gentle approach to everyday topics. The content offers opportunities for intergenerational viewing and discussions about feelings, community and creativity. Local libraries and schools in Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties may find the material useful for early childhood programs or family events.

The launch comes 25 years after the final new episode premiered, providing a new way for audiences to connect with Fred Rogers’ legacy through modern digital platforms.
