CLINTON — Prince George’s County Police Department officers responded to a fatal collision involving an electric scooter in the 8100 block of Old Branch Avenue on June 15, 2026, at approximately 10:25 p.m.

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation. Scott Tippett, 43, of Clinton, was riding the electric scooter when he was struck by a car near the intersection of Manor Road. Tippett died of his injuries at the scene. The driver of the car suffered injuries not considered life-threatening.

A preliminary investigation indicates both the scooter rider and the driver were traveling in the same direction on Old Branch Avenue. The reason the driver struck the scooter remains under investigation.

Electric scooters have become increasingly common on local roadways, and collisions involving them can result in serious outcomes for riders and drivers. Authorities continue to examine all factors in this incident.
