The St. Mary’s County Museum Division was established by the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County to collect, preserve, research and interpret historic sites and artifacts that illustrate the natural and cultural histories of St. Mary’s County and the Potomac River. Its sites include St. Clement’s Island Museum, Piney Point Lighthouse Museum, the Old Jail Museum and the Drayden African American Schoolhouse.
The division serves as a resource and community advocate for cultural assets across St. Mary’s County. Residents and visitors can follow updates on Facebook at Facebook.com/SCIMuseum or visit Museums.StMarysCountyMD.gov for museum hours, programs and admission information.
Southern Maryland communities along the Potomac can take advantage of these cruises to explore local history, ecology and maritime heritage while supporting regional tourism and educational programs.
